THE SCIENCE
OF THE WAVE
Everything Wave Robotics builds starts from the same foundational discovery: that a micro-lattice polymer substrate, when correctly profiled, propagates kinetic energy in controlled waveforms rather than dissipating it. That insight is now protected by three United States patents.
Wave Propagation Core
Our patented micro-lattice substrate channels kinetic energy in directional waves from the point of force application outward through the deck. Unlike conventional decks that absorb and dissipate energy as heat and vibration, the Wave Propagation Core amplifies and redirects it — returning energy to the rider as feedback, pop, and control. The lattice geometry is tuned to a specific resonant frequency band matched to human-scale skateboarding forces.

Micro-Lattice Substrate
The substrate layer is a polymer micro-lattice structure with strut diameters measured in microns. At 1.8 mm thick and less than 40 g per deck, it adds negligible weight while providing the structural matrix that wave nodes need to function. The geometry was derived from bone-structure topology optimization, giving it an extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio that withstands repeated high-impact loading cycles beyond 500,000 repetitions.

Dual-Axis Wave Nodes
Wave nodes are precision-machined titanium inserts that mount through the deck at specific propagation axis points. Each node contains a directional coupler that splits incoming force into two perpendicular wave vectors, allowing the substrate to route energy efficiently regardless of impact direction. Node placement is determined by a computational fluid dynamics model — the same approach used in acoustic engineering and vibration isolation.

Adaptive Dampening
The Wave App Sensor reads substrate oscillation frequency in real time and allows riders to select from three dampening profiles — Responsive (minimal damping for maximum feedback), Balanced (daily riding tuning), and Smooth (high-frequency absorption for rough terrain). Profiles change the effective stiffness of the micro-lattice via thermal pre-stress applied by heated node tips, a mechanism covered under a separate process patent.

Ride Telemetry System
The Wave App Sensor streams six-axis accelerometer and gyroscope data at 200 Hz to the Wave App via Bluetooth 5.2. Our on-device signal processing extracts wave propagation frequency, trick classification (50+ recognized moves), session power output, and impact severity — all displayed in the app in real time. Ride data is stored locally and can be shared as a replay file or CSV export for coaches and researchers.
